According to a statement from PCB’s Najam Sethi on Wednesday, Bismah Maroof, the captain of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, has vacated from her post to make room for a younger teammate. Sethi accepted Bismah’s resignation and commended her for her efforts to the team and her country.
Although relinquishing her leadership, Bismah Maroof will continue to represent Pakistan as a regular player and win honours for her nation. The Pakistani women’s cricket team has been a well-known one for a long time, and Bismah, an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm leg-break, has made significant contributions to the squad.

Najam Sethi Shares News Of Bismah Maroof’s Resignation
I have accepted resignation of @maroof_bismah Captain of Pakistan Women’s National Team. She wants to make way for a younger colleague. But happily she will continue to play for Pakistan and bring laurels for her country.

The Pakistani women’s side won 16 out of 34 ODIs and 27 out of 62 T20Is when Bismah Maroof served as captain. In June 2022, Bismah broke the record for the most runs scored by the Pakistani women’s cricket team in both ODI and T20I forms. She has consistently performed well for the squad.

Throughout her 17-year career, Bismah Maroof has amassed 3110 runs at an average of 30.2 in 124 ODIs and 2658 runs at an average of 27.1 in 132 T20Is. She has become an essential member of the team due to her reliability with the bat, and it is anticipated that her retirement as captain would infuse the squad’s leadership with new ideas.
The fact that Bismah chose to give up her position as captain shows how unselfish she is and how eager she is to support the team in whatever way she can. Her efforts to the team’s performance can indeed be understated, and her choice to relinquish the captaincy position shows how dedicated she is to that achievement.
