Two more Indian players, Ishan Kishan and Riyan Parag, have reported at the BCCI Centre of Excellence for routine fitness assessment, while the likes of Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav are already there for the same purpose ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup.
Both the Indian batters Kishan and Parag have not played white-ball cricket since they participated in the IPL 2025, where Ishan was seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad while Parag played for Rajasthan Royals.
However, following the IPL, Ishan Kishan was seen playing in the County Championship and was also considered to replace an injured Rishabh Pant in India's squad for the 5th Test at The Oval; however, he was deemed unfit during that time and hence missed the golden opportunity.
Ishan Kishan and Riyan Parag check in at the BCCI Centre of Excellence
The two seasoned Indian cricketers have reportedly checked in at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to check on their fitness routine and be deemed fit ahead of the domestic season that begins with the Duleep Trophy.
Both Ishan Kishan and Riyan Parag are to represent the East Zone side, while Kishan will be seen leading them. Kishan, who has featured in 2 Tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is, recently suffered from an ankle injury after he fell off a scooter, which resulted in the national selectors picking Narayan Jagadeesan as Pant's replacement.
Parag, on the other hand, made his debut in 2024; the 23-year-old cricketer has played in one ODI and 9 T20I games for India. He also led the Royals in the IPL in the absence of their skipper, Sanju Samson.
The likes of all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma are already in the BCCI CoE for their routine fitness assessment, while a few days back, batter Shreyas Iyer was also spotted for the same purpose at the CoE.
Suryakumar Yadav spotted in the nets at the BCCI's CoE ahead of the Asia Cup
Though many have reported at the CoE, all eyes are on that one man, Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who is also at the CoE and is healing from a Sports hernia surgery. As per the latest reports, he has resumed batting in the nets.
Starting with the Asia Cup 2025, India has a very busy schedule in white-ball cricket in the 2025-26 season. After the Asia Cup, India will travel to Australia for a white-ball tour, and then they will host South Africa for a long white-ball series in November-December, and then New Zealand will follow in January 2026.
After the end of all these series, February will be the big stage for Suryakumar Yadav as he will be leading India to his first-ever ICC tournament, the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. SKY's availability is hence deemed very crucial for the next 6 months.
Indian Women's Team holds ODI CWC preparations in CoE
The Indian Women's team is currently also at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, where they host a preparatory camp for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which will be held in India from the end of September.
The camp is held between the 7th of August and the 13th of August, as the players have played a few practice games and will undergo match simulation under the watchful eyes of head coach Amol Mazumdar, as revealed by TOI sources.
The ICC Women's World Cup is set to kick off on the 30th of September, while India will host Australia for a three-match preparatory ODI series from the 14th of September.
