Tearaway Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav is yet to regain his full fitness during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. According to the latest news reports, Mayank Yadav is likely to get clearance from BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to join the Super Giants on April 14.
Lucknow Super Giants suffered an early setback as retained pacer Mohsin Khan was ruled out due to a calf injury sustained during rehab. The franchise named Shardul Thakur as his replacement. However, injury troubles didn’t end there, with Team India fast bowler Akash Deep dealing with a back problem.
Mayank Yadav Has Progressed Well at NCA – Report
Mayank Yadav has faced injury setbacks early in his career. He was retained by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹11 crore before the mega auction. While he was in the process of recovering from a back injury, a new toe injury further delayed his comeback.
According to ANI sports correspondent Vipul Kashyap, Mayank is making steady progress in his recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He is currently bowling at around 85% intensity and is expected to undergo a final fitness assessment on April 14.

Mayank Yadav Made a Sensational IPL Debut for LSG Last Season
Mayank Yadav made a remarkable IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants last season. He registered bowling figures of 3 for 27 during his first match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The fast bowler delivered another match-winning performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he claimed 3 for 14.
Despite his promising start, injuries hampered his season, limiting him to just four matches after suffering a side strain. Later that year, he made his India debut in a series against Bangladesh, taking four wickets in three games. However, his participation in IPL 2025 remains uncertain due to an injury setback.
LSG Have Had a Poor Start to Their IPL 2025 Campaign
LSG have had a poor start to their IPL 2025 campaign, with just one win from three matches. They scored 209 runs against Delhi Capitals and chased 192 in only 16.1 overs versus Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their bowling unit has been hit by injuries, forcing the team to depend heavily on their batting lineup.
The reliance on key players like Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran has been evident. In their most recent game, both batters failed to deliver—Marsh went out for a duck and Pooran was dismissed at a vital moment.
LSG couldn’t put up a competitive total and were convincingly beaten by eight wickets at home by Punjab Kings. They will be hoping to regain form when they take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 4.
