Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has opined on team India’s opening combination for the third T20I between India and England in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. India’s current T20I squad has as many as four specialist openers, with KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Ishan Kishan in the mix. But Brad Hogg believes that the men in blue must install Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the top of the order.

Ishan Kishan enjoyed a dream debut as he mustered a whirlwind fifty in the second T20 international to shape India’s seven-wicket victory. The left-handed batsman asserted his authority quickly after shining in IPL 2020, in which he smacked 516 runs in 14 games at 57.33. Kishan hammered five fours and four sixes in his 32-ball 56, sharing a 94-run stand with Virat Kohli to set the tone.
After being rested for the first two T20Is, Rohit Sharma’s return would mean that KL Rahul has to make way for the right-handed batsman. While KL Rahul has been in imperious form in white-ball cricket in the last few months, he made a single in the first T20I and managed a six-ball duck in the second. Thus, with India needing in-from and aggressive openers at the top, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul could be the answer.
Below is Brad Hogg’s tweet:
Brad Hogg took to his official Twitter handle and is firm that Ishan Kishan has to open with Rohit Sharma since the game has changed and India need an attacking player at the top.
Ishan Kishan has to open with Rohit. The game has changed and you need that aggressive opener at the top. #<!---->I<!---->N<!---->D<!---->v<!---->E<!---->N<!---->G #<!---->C<!---->r<!---->i<!---->c<!---->k<!---->e<!---->t
