Australian swashbuckling middle-order batsman Glenn Maxwell was in demolition mode in the third Twenty20 International against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

Maxwell, who had registered scores of 1 and 3 in the first two T20Is of the five-match series against the Kiwis, came good in what was a do-or-die encounter for his side as he smashed a whirlwind 31-ball 70- an innings which included eight fours and as many as five sixes.

Maxwell was particularly brutal against all-rounder James Neesham as he smoked his former Kings XI Punjab to all corners of the stadium, accumulating 28 runs off 6 balls in the process.

The Australian batsman smashed four 4s and a couple of monstrous sixes during Neesham’s final over. One of those sixes- a flat batted swat over deep square-leg proceeded to break a spectator’s seat in the stands.

And, now that broken chair- signed by Glenn Maxwell-will be auctioned off and its proceeds will be donated to Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust.

”Will put this seat @skystadium up for auction on @TradeMe next few days. All proceeds will be donated to Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust. Any chance of a signature @Gmaxi_32? ? #NZvAUS

Coming back to the match, Australia, on the back of Aaron Finch’s 44-ball 69 and Maxwell’s onslaught posted 4/208 in 20 overs

The total proved to be more than enough as Ashton Agar walked past New Zealand’s middle and lower-order to claim figures of 6/30 in 4 overs leading to a much-needed 64-run win for the tourists.
