Former India World Cup winner Ravichandran Ashwin have backed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and made a bold remark that they are “impossible” to be dropped from the side after their stunning performance, and there's no one who can touch the two stalwarts of Indian Cricket.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma turned up big in the third and final ODI against the England National Cricket Team at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, last Sunday. They were excellent in their possibly last game in England. However, they could not help India win the game despite their strong performances.

Ashwin, while speaking on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’, stated that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma cannot be touched as they can play whenever they want to, as they have got the experience and also the form to continue playing the ODI format for India.
“They cannot touch both Virat and Rohit if they want to play. Why's that? They have the credentials. They have scored runs. They are both batters, and they cannot touch them. If they touch them, if you look at the news of Rohit's potential retirement, it was not outside noise. If there's no fire, there would be no smoke,” said Ashwin.
Rohit Sharma silenced his critics after stunning century
While mentioning Rohit, Ashwin brought up the point about the retirement buzz. Ahead of the Lord’s game, it was reported that Rohit is not in the selectors' plans for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027 and the match last Sunday would be his last outing for the India National Cricket Team.
Amidst all this, Rohit answered his critics who doubted him as he scored a brilliant hundred at Lord’s and broke several milestones with his amazing 138-run innings, becoming the first India batter to score a hundred at Lord’s and also the non-English batter to score the most centuries in England. Virat also was among the runs as he returned with a knock of 74.
“There was fire, but Rohit scored runs, and he has shown how it's done. Rohit has no doubt about playing in the World Cup. They cannot touch both Rohit and Virat because they are batters. They have an army and a battalion. People come to watch them. If you show them the door, it will break the roof down,” he added.

Ravichandran Ashwin also pointed out that not picking Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will not create much noise as it will if the management ignores Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
“But when you don't pick Siraj, Shami or Bhuvneshwar, only 10 people will ask about them. A maximum of 1000 people will ask. Let's consider 10,000 people ask about them. But there would be no noise. If there comes a day when people raise their voice for the bowlers, then dropping them would also become difficult,” said Ashwin.
“You also know dropping Virat and Rohit is impossible. But the same does not apply to the bowlers,” he added.
