Paras Dogra emotional after Jammu and Kashmir wins maiden Ranji title: History has been made at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubli. After waiting for 67 years, the cricket team of Jammu and Kashmir has finally reached their destination, which they dreamt of for decades. Thanks to a bunch of exceptionally talented cricketers, J&K lifted the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 title.
As soon as the final ball of the match was played, the entire J&K team flooded with joy. Captain Paras Dogra, who was naturally super excited and ready to celebrate with the boys, credited the entire team for making the dream real.
Don't have any words right now-Paras Dogra
Paras Dogra was running out of words to explain the moment. At that moment, it was the biggest thing for him in life, which came through hard dedication, grit, and the willingness to climb to the top of the ladder of Indian domestic cricket.
"I can't explain to be honest. I don't have any words right now. At this time, it's just the biggest thing right now in my life and I have a lot of gratitude for it. To be honest, I have been lucky to be with JKCA and the guys have been phenomenal" Paras Dogra, the skipper of Jammu and Kashmir, the winner of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26.
"They have been excellent and it's not about the 11, like 14, 15 guys, if you'll see, they have been tremendous. They have been putting their hand up and they have been performing really well. They are really keen to win the matches and from the beginning, they have been 100% sure that we're gonna win this", Paras Dogra added.
J&K defeated the multi-time Ranji Trophy-winning team Karnataka
Karnataka, the eight-time Ranji Trophy winners, were barely able to match Jammu and Kashmir, who were playing their first-ever Ranji Trophy final, in any of the departments of the match.
In the first innings of the match, the team from North scored a massive total of 584, and in the second innings, they stood tall for 342/4, while Karnataka remained way back with the first innings' 293. According to the rules of the tournament, with a 291-run first-innings lead, J&K claimed the silverware.
The first innings was enough to push Karnataka, which had stats like KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal, and Prasidh Krishna. J&K's first innings total of 584 was supported by Shubham Pundir's 121 and 5 fifty-plus run knocks. In the second innings, Qamran Iqbal remained not out for 160, and Sahil Lotra played an unbeaten knock of 101.
Auqib Nabi: The emerging star from the valleys
The success story of Jammu and Kashmir cricket might have remained incomplete with Auqib Nabi, the pacer who delivered relentlessly throughout the tournament, and is expected to become a new Team India member in the future as well.
Nabi's 5-wicket figure broke the backbone of Karnataka's batting line-up. The seamer dismissed KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Smaran Ravichandran, and Shikhar Shetty in the process.
