The Delhi Capitals have had a roller-coaster season, especially with the bat. At times they have scored a massive amount of runs, like in their last encounter at this same venue, the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where they scored the highest total of this edition of the IPL, contrasting with where they are today at the same venue.

Just two days ago, KL Rahul, who top-scored for Delhi Capitals at this venue, scored the highest individual runs for any India batter with an unbeaten 152*, and now he departs for just a single while the team struggles with half of their team back in the dugout with less than 10 runs on the board.

Delhi Capitals have once again had a terrible collapse at the top of the order, and the skipper Axar Patel has once again failed to add anything to the team's total with the bat.

Axar Patel disappoints in another batting collapse for the Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals skipper has quite a reputation as an all-rounder and has portrayed his spin-bowling ability widely in the former seasons in the IPL. However, the Indian World Cup winner's form has been inconsistent with the bat.

Carrying on his dismal form in 2026, Axar came out to bat as the Delhi Capitals struggled with four wickets down within the first 15 balls of their batting innings against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Axar played two balls with utter discomfort and was challenged by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on every occasion. However, he could not resist nicking the third ball from Bhuvneshwar and was the third wicket for the veteran bowler for the night.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood demolish the DC batting lineup with the new ball

The previous match that was played here was a day game that offered a more solid surface; however, this time around, the pitch offered immense grip, and the ball skidded off the surface.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar always looks to bowl those tighter lines with the new ball, and since the pitch offered some good lateral movement around the surface, he is at the top of his game. He dismissed the likes of debutant Sahil Parekh, Tristan Stubbs, and the skipper Axar Patel.

From the other end, Josh Hazlewood's consistency has been astonishing as he has constantly targeted that hard length, which has been taking the batters by some surprise. The contrasting lengths have been a constant help for the pacers, as Hazlewood too picked three wickets, including two of the very first deliveries he bowled into this game.
