Former India National Cricket Team batter Cheteshwar Pujara ranked fast bowler Mohammed Siraj in the 'all-time top 20 India test quicks' for a brief video on Cricinfo. The rankings were distributed in top 20, top 10, top 5, and top 3 categories. Siraj got ranked only up to the top ten category in Pujara's rankings.

The rankings of Mohammed Siraj were done amid India's second Test match in Colombo, where Siraj has been taking a vital role with the ball in hand. On the spin-friendly tracks in Sri Lanka, the Indian cricket team pacers, including Siraj, so far have done their job precisely. Not only through his bowling, but Mohammed Siraj has also been keeping pressure on the host nation batters by playing mind games as well.

In the longest format of the game, the 32-year-old pacer has cemented his place as one of India's frontline pacers. So, keeping an eye on his success rate in Tests, Cheteshwar Pujara kept Mohammed Siraj in the top 20 and top 10 categories but denied the pacer in the remaining two categories, which were top 5 and top three.

"Yes, he's definitely there," Cheteshwar Pujara said when he was asked, "Is Mohammad Siraj in your all-time top 20 India test quicks?" in the video, which was the first step to staying relevant in the conversation. The former batter kept Siraj in the top 10 as well, saying, "Yes, I would say so because his performance in overseas conditions as well as in India and the amount of effort he puts in for the team is definitely in the top 10."

Pujara kept Mohammed Siraj in his all-time top 10 category mostly because of the pacer's performance in overseas conditions. According to stats, from 2020 to 2026, the seamer has taken 103 wickets in 28 matches and 53 innings, including five 5-wicket hauls.

"Maybe not because I'm going to tell my top 5 picks. So I'll start with Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Javagal Srinath, Jaspreet Bumrah and Ishant Sharma," Pujara said when he was asked if he would like to place Siraj in the top 5 and top 3 brackets. Interestingly, Pujara did not mention Mohammed Shami in his top 5 picks.

Mohammed Siraj's Test career in brief

In his overall Test cricket career, Mohammed Siraj has so far claimed 142 wickets in 47 Test matches and 88 innings for an economy rate of 3.51. In the Whites for the Indian cricket team, he has recorded five 5-fers and eight 4-fers. He is yet to claim a ten-wicket haul in the format.

In the ongoing 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka, Siraj has been playing a key role for his team. In the first match of the series in Galle, he took two wickets, one each in both innings, and in the ongoing match, he has added another scalp to his Test cricket tally.
