Sussex skipper Cheteshwar Pujara has received a one-match ban from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) following his team violated regulations set up by the governing body for professional conduct. Apart from the captain’s penalty, the team also has been handed a 12-point penalty in the ongoing County Championship.

Sussex were penalized after they got their four fixed penalties in one season. The captain of the team Cheteshwar Pujara accepted the charges without challenging it. The likes of Tom Haines, Jack Carson, and Ari Karvelas were the culprits behind the violating the code of conduct and they haven’t been named in the team for the next game.

ECB released the official statement and stated: “By virtue of receiving two additional fixed penalties in the LV= Insurance County Championship match against Leicestershire on 13 September 2023, Sussex CCC has now met the threshold of four fixed penalties in one season, having previously received two fixed penalties in the LV County Championship earlier in the season.”

Sussex also released the official statement, confirming the unavailability of Tom Haines, Jack Carson, and Ari Karvelas for the next game. They stated:

“Tom Haines and Jack Carson have been made unavailable for selection by Head Coach Paul Farbrace due to their conduct in the previous game. Ari Karvelas is also unavailable until an investigation into an incident in the Leicestershire game has been concluded.”

Following the charges by the ECB, Sussex has been dropped from third to fifth. They now have 124 points.

Cheteshwar Pujara dropped from the Indian team after World Test Championship Final

Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from the Indian Team following his poor run in the Indian side. He failed in the ICC World Test Championship Final and then wasn’t picked for the West Indies Tests.

The BCCI cleared to him that they want to give youngsters opportunities but also mentioned that doors aren’t closed for him. It remains to be seen if he will be given a chance in the team or not.
