Kamran Akmal, a former wicketkeeper-batsman, has aimed at the Pakistan Cricket Board for wanting to change the locations of the forthcoming ODI World Cup in 2023, a request that was ultimately rejected by the ICC.

The highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match will go on as scheduled on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, despite the PCB’s reservations about playing the bitter rivals in Ahmedabad.

The ICC’s decision to hold the 2023 ODI World Cup match between Pakistan and India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is important. The Pakistan team will be visiting India for the first time since the 2016 T20 World Cup. The PCB voiced reservations about playing at this location, but their request was denied.

Furthermore, the board sought a venue change for the matches between Australia and Afghanistan. Afghanistan was supposed to play in Chennai, while Australia was scheduled to play in Bengaluru. Their appeal for a venue change, however, was also denied.

“These things shouldn’t happen in international cricket”- Kamran Akmal

Former wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal believes that Pakistan should not be concerned about the circumstances and venues since in modern-day cricket, any side can beat anyone on their home soil.

“Conditions and venues shouldn’t be a concern for teams anymore. These things shouldn’t happen in international cricket. Today, India beat Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand on their own turf” Kamran Akmal said.

“We shouldn’t be making excuses like why we are playing against Afghanistan in Chennai, or India in Ahmedabad. Your focus should be on cricket only,” Kamran Akmal said during an interview with paktv. tv.

“It’s my request to board members, to stop making such low-standard requests. The level of international cricket has advanced now. Players should be proud of their achievements, they should know what the fans and the board expect from them. You shouldn’t say such things and instead pull down the level of your cricket,” Kamran Akmal added.
