South Africa allrounder Corbin Bosch is in some trouble after he decided to pull out of Pakistan Super League (PSL) lately to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The PCB has decided to take legal action against the allrounder.

Corbin Bosch was initially picked up by PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL draft. However, he later signed with the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians, which automatically ruled him out of the PSL 2025 season.

The situation occurred as both the leagues will be played simultaneously with each other this year. The PSL, which used to be held during February-March every year, delayed its date this year because of the ICC Champions Trophy, which was hosted by Pakistan during that period.

Corbin Bosch was signed up by Peshawar Zalmi in the diamond category at the PSL draft which took place in January in Lahore. However, he replaced the injured Lizaad Willams in the Mumbai Indians squad. The announcement was made by MI on March 8.

As a result, the PSL franchises have taken a stand to take legal action against Bosch as they fear that it could set a precedent for the players in the future. The franchises also discussed the idea of an outright ban on such players during their discussion.

A legal notice has been sent by the Pakistan Cricket Board and Corbin Bosch has been asked to justify his actions. The board has also informed the allrounder of the future repercussions of playing in the PSL.

"The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments," the PCB stated.

"The PCB management has also outlined the repercussions of his departure from the league and expects his response within the stipulated time frame. The PCB will not make any further comments on the matter," the statement further added.

While the PCB has asked Bosch about a valid justification, they did not reveal any specific time period in which the allrounder needs to respond. It remains to be seen how he replies and handles the trick situation.

Why was the PSL window shifted?

The PSL 2025 will take place from April 11 to May 18 while IPL 2025 will be held from March 22 to May 25. The PCB had shifted the PSL window not just in view of the Champions Trophy, but also to ensure the availability of overseas players.

In the previous window, the PSL had to compete with various T20 leagues like SA20, BPL, and ILT20 for the availability of foreign players. The PSL draft was organized after the IPL auction just to ensure the overseas players' availability.

As a result, the league was successful in attracting some of the big names in world cricket like David Warner, Rassie van der Dussen, Kane Williamson, Mark Chapman, and Daryl Mitchell.

IPL 2025 starting date

The IPL 2025 will begin on March 22 with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Mumbai Indians will open its campaign against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on March 23. Corbin Bosch was signed by MI for his base price of INR 75 lakhs and will be available for the entire season.
