Superstar all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will move to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League 2021. As part of the trade Trinbago Knight Riders, the defending champions will gain the services of veteran ‘keeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin.
The 9th edition of the CPL will commence on August 28 and will be hosted entirely at Warner Park in St. Kitts. The 33-match 6-team tournament will also see fans in attendance up to 50% capacity of the 8,000-seater stadium – as long as they show proof of vaccination to enter the stadium facility.
Dwayne Bravo was a crucial part of the TKR side which won the title last season – Kieron Pollard’s team was unbeaten throughout the tournament winning all 12 games. He picked 9 wickets in 10 games at an economy of 7.50.
“At this stage of my career I needed a new challenge, which is to work with the young talent for the benefit of Cricket West Indies. Also becoming part of a new franchise SNKP will provide me with a new challenge in CPL. I want to thank TKR for respecting my wishes and for all their support over the years. I also appreciate everything they’ve done for Trinidad and Tobago in general,” Dwayne Bravo said in a statement.
We Are Sad To See Dwayne Bravo Leave But We Respect His Wishes: Venky Mysore
Venky Mysore, the team director of TKR and IPL team KKR, thanked the all-rounder for his services to the team since 2013, and for leading them to titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018.
“DJ Bravo has been instrumental in not only building TKR into a champion team but also captained the team which earned three championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018. We are sad to see him leave but we respect his wishes,” Venky Mysore said.
Dwayne Bravo is currently playing in the IPL 2021 for the Chennai Super Kings. He has also made his return to the West Indies T20 side in view of the T20 World Cup later in the year.
On the other hand, Denesh Ramdin performed under-par for the Patriots last season scoring 170 runs at a strike rate of 97.14. Incidentally, the 36-year-old keeper has been part of the TKR set up between 2016 and 2019. He had moved to the Patriots only last year and has also played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
