Cricket Australia Revises Schedule For Sri Lanka T20I Series
Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the revised schedule for their upcoming T20I series at home against Sri Lanka. The series, which consists of five T20Is, will now be played across three venues.
The series marks the continuance in preparation for the 2022 T20 World Cup that will take place in Australia. The defending champions will start out as the favourites against the Lankans who are still finding their feet.
“CA will continue to prioritize the health and safety of all players, match officials, staff, fans, broadcasters and the wider community as we navigate the challenges presented by Covid-19,” CA CEO, Nick Hockley, stated in an official release from the board.
The rise in cases across Australia hasn’t yet denied the possibility of having crowds at the venues. The Ashes series saw a full crowd on most days while the ongoing Australian Open (Tennis) continues to allow crowds for the matches.
“We know that fans in South Australia and Queensland will be disappointed to miss out on these matches and we remain committed to bringing international cricket to all states and territories across the country as safe as possible. We thank Sri Lanka Cricket for working closely with us to make the series possible and look forward to five entertaining matches,” Hockley added.
