CWG 2022: Smriti Mandhana Completes 2000 T20I Runs As An Opener, Becomes 2nd Indian After Rohit Sharma To Achieve This Milestone

The 26-year-old India Women’s National Cricket Team star batter Smriti Mandhana has completed 2000 runs as an opener in T20Is and she has become only the second Indian after the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma to achieve this sensational landmark.

Mandhana achieved this enormous milestone during the 10th match of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 Women’s Cricket Competition between India Women’s National Cricket Team and Barbados Women’s National Cricket Team on Wednesday at the Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Mandhana failed to play a good knock for India in the match against Barbados as she was able to score only 5 runs off 7 balls, before being dismissed by Shanika Bruce. However, her 5 runs knock was enough for her to move past the 2000 T20I runs milestone.

Talking about the match, India registered a huge 100-run win with the help of Jemimah Rodrigues’ amazing half-century and Renuka Singh’s incredible 4-wicket haul to secure a semi-final spot.

The 26-year-old Mandhana has played 79 T20I innings as an opener and has smashed 2004 runs at an average of 27.45, including 14 fifties with her best score being 86.

Overall, Mandhana has played 88 T20I innings and has scored 2125 runs at an average of 26.23 and a strike rate of 120.87, including 15 half-centuries.

Talking about Rohit, he has played 96 T20I innings as an opener and has smashed 2,973 runs at an average of 33.03, including 4 centuries and 22 fifties, with his best score being 118.

Overall, Rohit, who is the highest run-getter in the history of men’s T20I cricket, has scored 3454 runs in 123 innings at an average of 32.28 and a strike rate of 139.83, including 27 half-centuries and 4 centuries.
