The Indian women’s cricket team received praise from Sanjay Manjrekar for their achievements in the recently finished Commonwealth Games 2022. In his opinion, it was not choking to lose the championship game to the dominant Australian squad.

In the quadrennial games’ gold-medal match on Sunday, August 7, the Women in Blue held the Australians to a score of 161/8. However, they ultimately lost the game by nine runs and had to settle for a respectable silver medal.

Sanjay Manjrekar was questioned about whether or not the Indian team’s defeat made them feel like the chokers or the South Africa of the women’s game during an encounter on the Sports 18 program “Sports Over the Top” He gave an unfavourable response, saying:

“You guys are really difficult. Normally, I feel that my opinions and observations are a little too severe, but you people have surpassed me by a long shot. I think the Indian women’s team has done quite well, so please be kind.”

“They should be quite pleased with their silver medal, in my opinion, because they defeated both England and Australia, which is a difficult feat to do. So when you lose against Australia, it is not because you are choking, it is because Australia is currently unbeatable.”

Manjrekar noted that the women’s IPL will assist the Indian team in checking off the remaining boxes as he concluded. He made the point that there should be more options available to the selectors during the competition, particularly for the middle-order batting positions and the bowling staff.
