Ishan Kishan should be the opener for this team. Ishan Kishan did not get a place in the squad for Asia Cup 2022. Although he is not a top choice for an opener in T20Is currently, he takes the opening spot when the regular openers like Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul are unavailable.

Kishan has played 19 T20I matches for the team so far and scored 543 runs at an average of 30.17. He has also hit 4 half-centuries in the shortest format.

Sanju Samson should be the other opener for the team and the wicketkeeper. The right-handed batsman has only played a few T20I games for India, in which he could not come up with a consistent show. However, Samson came up with a good performance this year. In 16 T20I games so far, he has scored 296 runs at an average of 21.14 with 1 fifty.

Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi should be a middle-order batsman for the team. Tripathi is a middle-order batter who is an uncapped player. However, he has been part of the squad in the recent few series but did not get a chance to play any game. Tripathi got a national call after his impressive performance in IPL 2022, in which he scored 413 runs in 14 games at an average of 37.55.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer should be another player in this team. Iyer is picked as a stand-by player for Asia Cup 2022. The right-handed batsman is a regular member of the Indian team in ODIs and T20Is. He has also made a debut in Tests this year and played some games.

Iyer is a powerful middle-order batsman, however, due to the intense competition in the middle-order, he could not get a spot in the top 15. In 2022, the right-handed batsman has scored 449 runs in 14 games at an average of 44.90 with 4 half-centuries.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel should be picked as one of the all-rounders in this team. Axar Patel has been picked as a standby player for the team in Asia Cup 2022. Patel is one of the top all-rounders for India in the national team.

Although he might not be picked in every T20I or ODI game, he is mostly part of the squad. In the recent T20I and ODI series against West Indies, Patel give a good performance winning the man of the match award in one ODI and one T20I.

Harshal Patel could not qualify for Asia Cup 2022 squad due to an ongoing injury. The right-arm pacer is currently undergoing rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy. Patel has been a regular member of the team in the shortest format since the start of this year. The 31-year-old has played 17 T20Is so far and picked 23 wickets at an average of 20.95.

Deepak Chahar should be another pacer in this team. Deepak Chahar is also a standby player in Asia Cup 2022 squad. The right-arm pacer would have got a place in the squad, however, he was out of the field for a long time. Since the start of IPL 2022, Chahar could not take the field due to a hamstring injury. The right-arm pacer has played 20 T20Is so far and picked 26 wickets at an average of 22.27.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is another player on this list. Bumrah’s absence from Asia Cup 2022 squad came out as a big blow to the Indian team. The right-arm pacer is injured and undergoing rehab at NCA, due to which he was not available for Asia Cup 2022 selection.

Bumrah is among the top pacers for India and plays in all three formats. He gave a brilliant performance in the recent ODI and T20I series against England, during which he also sustained an injury.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav should be one of the spinners in this team. Yadav was not picked for Asia Cup 2022 squad. The left-arm pacer made a strong impact with his performance in IPL 2022, where he finished as one of the top wicket-takers.

However, Yadav sustained a hand injury due to which he missed some crucial T20I series. He made a comeback in the recent T20I series against West Indies. However, he could only play 1 game in the match in which he picked 3 wickets.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami should be another pacer in this team. Shami’s exclusion from Asia Cup 2022 squad came as a big surprise for many and also became a topic of discussion. The right-arm pacer was overlooked for Asia Cup 2022. Shami did not play a single T20I game in 2022. However, he was part of many ODI and Test series and also gave a brilliant performance in both formats.
