Dark clouds loom over India vs Bangladesh 1st T20I in Gwalior as authorities deploy over 2500 police

The Madhya Pradesh police is taking all possible measures to ensure that the upcoming first India vs Bangladesh T20I in Gwalior takes place without any disruption.

After the conclusion of the two-match Test series, both teams will be taking on each other in a three-match T20I series. The first game will take place at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior, on Sunday (October 6).

Ahead of the match, the authorities have decided to deploy more than 2500 police personnel. The authorities have taken the decision following calls from right-wing outfits to boycott the game. Several right-wing outfits have given boycott calls in protest against the violence faced by Hindus in Bangladesh due to the political turmoil in the country.

The two hotels where the India and Bangladesh players have been staying since Wednesday (October 2) are under a heavy security blanket. On the India vs Bangladesh match day, the security is only going to increase.

"On the day of the match, personnel will be on the streets from 2pm. They will be on duty till spectators reach home after the game is over. After prohibitory orders were invoked, monitoring has been tightened. We are keeping an eye on social media as well," Gwalior Zone Inspector General of Police Arvind Saxena told PTI.

Unrest in Gwalior ahead of India vs Bangladesh T20I:

In order to keep the situation in Gwalior under control, the district magistrate has issued a number of orders. The orders have put a ban on protests and circulation of inflammatory material, especially on social media.The authorities have taken the decision to maintain peace and ensure an incident-free match.

The orders will be in effect till Monday (October 7), a day after the India vs Bangladesh T20I. Before the authorities issued the orders, the Hindu Mahasabha called for a Gwalior Bandh on the match day. The outfit also staged a protest on Wednesday and called for the cancellation of the India vs Bangladesh T20I.

A similar situation was in Kanpur as well before the second Test. There were calls from several religious outfits to boycott the game. However, the authorities managed to keep the situation under control and the game took place without any major disruption.

Meanwhile, Team India will be looking to continue their winning steak against Bangladesh. After winning both the Tests, the Men in Blue will be looking to whitewash the visitors in the T20Is as well.
