Dates For England's Tour Of West Indies Announced By The ECB
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the schedule for the men’s cricket team’s tour of the West Indies in early 2022. The tour will consist of five T20Is and three Tests, but no ODI’s have been planned.
The tour will have two phases – the first one will see the Englishmen play five T20Is following which, West Indies will head to India for a white-ball tour of India. Once that is completed, the Windies will be back to host the English for the three-Test series.
The T20I series is also the first-ever instance of five matches being played between the two sides. Due to the pandemic times, all the matches will be played at the same venue – the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
The Test series has been the Richards-Botham Trophy, honoring the Windies legend, Vivian Richards, and English all-rounder, Ian Botham. The duo has been part of some of the most memorable moments between the two sides and the trophy is aptly named after them.
CWI has also confirmed that fully vaccinated English fans will be allowed to enter the stadiums throughout the tour. As for the tickets, the online sales will begin after the ongoing T20 World Cup through CWI’s platform.
