David Warner has started his last series in red-ball cricket with a bang as he scored a brilliant century against Pakistan in Perth. Warner completed his 26th test century in the match and played a terrific innings scoring 164 off 211 deliveries. David Warner’s innings consisted of 16 boundaries and four sixes and he took on the Pakistani bowling attack right from the start.

During his innings, the veteran opener went past Matthew Hayden and Michael Clarke to become the fifth-highest run-getter for Australia in the longest format of the game. David Warner has now amassed 8651 runs at an average of 45.06 to become the fifth-highest run-getter for Australia in Test Cricket. This was also his 200th inning in test cricket and he has made it memorable by scoring a sensational ton against Pakistan.

The Australian southpaw received a lot of criticism from former teammate Mitchell Johnson before the start of the series but he has replied phenomenally with his bat. He was taking on the Pakistani bowlers all around the field before getting caught on 164 by Imam-ul-Haq off Aamer Jamal’s delivery.

David Warner went past former Australian skipper Michael Clarke and Matthew Hayden to achieve this feat. He is standing in fifth position with 8651 runs, averaging 45.06, and having 26 centuries to his name. Steve Smith stands at fourth with 9351 runs at an average of 58.44. Smith has 32 centuries in the longest format. The third-highest run-getter for Australia in Tests is Steve Waugh with 10927 runs at an average of 51.06 with 32 hundreds to his name.

The top two batters in this list are both World Cup-winning captains for Australia. The second-highest run-getter is Allan Border who has amassed 11174 runs at an average of 50.56 with 27 centuries to his name. The topper of this list and the highest run-getter for Australia in test cricket is Ricky Ponting who has amassed 13378 runs, averaging 51.85 and having 41 centuries to his name in the format.

David Warner has joined the elite list of these players with his terrific innings against Pakistan. Australia is going strong in the first test with already more than 300 runs on the board on the first day in Perth. Pakistan has missed a lot of chances in the field and will have to improve in that aspect.
