Recently reports had surfaced that David Warner and Michael Slater were involved in a physical scuffle at a bar in the Maldives inside the Taj Coral Resort, where the Australians from the IPL 2021 are staying.

After the postponement of the IPL 2021 on Tuesday the entire Australia-bound contingent barring Mike Hussey, who had tested positive for the covid-19 and is staying in Chennai, was sent to the Maldives as the Australian government has banned passengers from India until May 15.

It was there that David Warner and Michael Slater were reported to have had a tussle. However, the Aussie duo has now responded to it and quashed these reports saying these are nothing but hoaxes.

“There has been no drama. I don’t know where you get these things from. Unless you were here and have got concrete evidence you can’t write anything. Nothing happened,” read David Warner’s text as per The Daily Telegraph.

“There is absolutely nothing to the rumour mill Buzz. Davie and I are great mates and absolutely zero chance of (having) a fight,” Slater reportedly texted a senior journalist of the publication.

David Warner was obviously shocked and disappointed: Tom Moody

Speaking about David Warner in IPL 2021, the opener was scrapped off from captaincy after the Sunrisers Hyderabad lost 5 of their first 6 matches; he was also dropped from the side as the management wanted to play their “best combination”.

Kane Williamson took the captaincy job but SRH’s fortunes didn’t change as they succumbed to a 55-run defeat to the Rajasthan Royals before the tournament came to a halt.

SRH’s director of cricket, Tom Moody, had later revealed that the left-hander was “shocked” and “disappointed” on being told he would be snubbed as captain and from the eleven. Moody said they explained to David Warner that his axing was based on team combination.

“It means firstly that he’s not going to be playing, purely a decision based on combination. We’ve come to a conclusion that the two overseas batters, allrounder and Rashid Khan is the best combination. We’ve looked at it closely. Bairstow’s form and Williamson’s form is at a great height and we are very thrilled the way they are playing,” Moody told Star Sports before the Sunrisers’ game against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.

“We had to make a hard call and someone had to miss out, and unfortunately for Davey, this time it’s him. He was obviously shocked and disappointed. And we’d be disappointed if he wasn’t feeling that way,” Moody added.
