David Warner names 48th Australian Test captain ahead of Sri Lanka Tests

Former Australia National Cricket Team batter David Warner shared his take on who should captain the team during the Sri Lanka series if Steve Smith is unfit. He backed Travis Head to take over the role, saying that the batter will do a great job for the team.
Australia National Cricket Team is all set to lock horns with Sri Lanka National Cricket Team in the two-match Test series. The series between the teams will begin on 29th January, followed by the second game of the series to be played on 6th February. Both the games will be played at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.

Smith injured his right arm while throwing in the field for Sydney Sixers in their washed-out match against Sydney Thunder on Friday. He looked in pain and things at first sight weren't good for him as he walked off the field, raising tensions forthe Australia team.
The injury also forced Smith to not travel with the Australia National Cricket Team for the training camp in Dubai ahead of the two-match series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The right-hander will be seeking advice from a specialist before boarding the flight.
Recently, Cricket Australia also stated Steve Smith, saying that they are hopeful that the batter will recover and will be joining the team soon. But there isn't any surety about if he will be playing the series and recovering in time for the series.

With uncertainty over Steve Smith, David Warner backed Travis Head to captain the team in the two-match series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. He said that the batter has done a great job for South Australia and has a good head on his shoulders. Speaking to the Australian, he said:
"I don't think he'd say much. He'll just make changes when he feels like it, he'll be fine. He's done the job for South Australia for a long time as well. He's got a good head on his shoulders."
