David Warner officially named Pakistani team captain

The Pakistan Super League will be witnessing a massive revamp in the upcoming season, as several franchises have included new players and appointed new captains for the side. Former Australian great David Warner has also been appointed captain of one of the franchises.
The PSL have included two new players in the upcoming season, and hence all teams are revamping their squads with a major auction that took place previously. While some players were officially retained by the teams, Karachi Kings retained their star player, David Warner.
The Pakistan Super League will be played from the 26th of March, and hence, it is destined to clash with the IPL 2026 season. This will be the 11th season of the PSL, and it will mark several new players who switched to the tournament after their exit from the IPL.
David Warner appointed as the captain of Karachi Kings
PSL franchise Karachi Kings had picked David Warner to play his first-ever PSL season in 2025 after the former Australian legend was sidelined from the IPL following a poor season in 2024. He was then retained by the Kings for a whopping PKR 7.90 crores during the auction.
Warner will now be leading the Karachi Kings side as their skipper after having served as their lead batter, who scored 368 runs across 11 matches in the last season and led them to the knockouts. He batted with a strike rate of 153.97.

Warner is the third-highest-paid overseas cricketer in the PSL
In the first-ever PSL auction after they shifted from their traditional draft system, Australian veteran batter Steve Smith was marked as the highest-paid cricketer. The new franchise Sialkot Stallionz roped him in for a whopping PKR 14 crores as a direct signing.
This pick made on Smith's exploits in the PSL is praiseworthy and was then followed by a bunch of Pakistani cricketers who did not cross the 8.65 crore mark. However, Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand all-rounder, made his way to the second spot with 8.05 crores.
Australian T20 kingpin David Warner was retained in the side by Karachi Kings, and they paid him a massive PKR 7.9 crores. He became the PSL 2026's third-highest-paid overseas player.
