The infamous ball-tampering saga which took place way back in 2018 is still fresh in World Cricket. Due to that controversy, not only the reputation of David Warner, Steven Smith, and Cameron Bancroft were damaged but the name of cricket was tarnished severely.
Faf du Plessis in his book FAF: Through the fire has revelated some shocking incidents of South Africa vs Australia Test Series. That series saw riveting contests on and off the field as South Africa won the series by 3-1 after being 1-0 down.
Faf du Plessis on David Warner
Faf was having an interaction with BBC and admitted that he was quite jealous of AB de Villiers and was asked about the Australia Test series.
“Australia wanted to bully us. We had to stand up for ourselves. They abused us that whole game but the way we fought back turned the series around. David Warner was a bully, I don’t have time for bullies,” said Faf du Plessis.
Faf As A Star Cricketer
Faf du Plessis, who has been blatantly ignored by Cricket South Africa (CSA) for ICC events has been a good contributor to the Proteas. He has been seen playing franchise cricket around the globe and still trying to get back to the white-ball team.
The right-handed batter has got innovative shots where he knows how to surprise the bowler. The batter now is all set to play in South Africa’s franchise league SA20 whose experience would be invaluable not only to the team but to the tournament.
His debut Test Match against Australia in 2012 was quite magnificent as he smashed a century on a tricky pitch against a power-packed bowling lineup. The former skipper’s most defining moment of his Test career would be the 2016 & 2018 series victory against Australia when not many expected him to make a mark.
Faf du Plessis has scored 4,163 runs in 69 matches where he struck 10 centuries. It would be interesting to see whether CSA gives him a second chance at the national level as he hasn’t played ODI’s since 2019.
