David Warner's Gamble Ends Up Backfiring During Recent Game

David Warner, who’s been the most consisted batter of the Delhi Capitals, was in charge of providing the team with a good start against the Punjab Kings, but things did not go too well as his gamble during the game ended up backfiring against him.

Warner Rushed Things and The Plan Did Not Go According to His Vision

After seeing Liam Livingstone in the attack, Warner decided to switch things up a bit and rushed to the striker’s end, even though the guard was taken by Sarfaraz Ahmed.

That resulted in Warner holing out to the man at a backward point and thus, he stroke the third golden tuck in T20s. Interestingly enough, Warner’s first stroke was in 2013 against the same franchise.

The game against the Punjab Kings was a must-win for the Delhi Capitals and this was a bad start for the team. Although that wasn’t the start that the Delhi Capitals hoped for, they ended up winning the game by 17 runs. Shardul Thakur’s four-wicket haul helped the team reach fourth place in the points table.

The fans weren’t too “mad” with Warner as he proved that he is vital to the team and is no stranger to making fantastic contributions.

Mitchell Marsh, who scored 63, shared his thoughts on the victory and stated that in the recent period, the team showed massive resilience and “played some good cricket.” He considers this a very good sign and added that in tournaments of this character, it is about reaching peak form at the right time. He ended by saying that there’s one game left and the team will make sure that it’s as ready as it can be.

Shane Watson Calls for Lift on Warner’s Captaincy Ban

Back in 2018, Warner was in a middle of a massive ball-tampering scandal during the Third Test in which Australia played against South Africa in Cape Town. He and the Australian Skipper, Steve Smith, ended up receiving a year-long suspension to play cricket in Australia.

Warner ended up on the worse side of the judgement as he was also hit with a lifetime ban from holding any leadership role in Australian cricket. As a legend of the game, Warner led Australia in 9 T20 Internationals and won 8 of them.

The president of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, Shane Watson, shared his support for Warner by saying that the player “was involved in a big mistake” and that he’s been punished severely. He noted that nobody is perfect and that everyone is bound to make a mistake at some point in their lives.

That is exactly what happened with Warner and even though Watson stated that some mistakes are “worse than others,” it is time to give Warner a break, forgive him for the mistakes that he made and hence, the ban against him should be lifted.

After all, Warner is a highly popular player that has managed to influence other industries aside from sports. One interesting area where he managed to breach is the online casino industry. Numerous providers take his influential status and theme of various online casino games by using him as the inspiration.

Fans can play casino games online on any mobile and desktop device and be provided with the highest form of entertainment. All they have to do is register an account, which is a process that will not take more than just a minute of their time.

Warner’s contributions since making the infamous mistake are the reason why Watson thinks that he “served his time” and that it is time to lift the ban. He added that not being able to captain a team, even though he is the right person for the rule is a bit absurd.

During the scandal, Warner was pretty quiet and even though the player had massive contributions, opinions were divided about him. Many people were praising him for managing to rebuild his career from rock bottom, but others still doubted him.

Warner is currently the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament, trailing only behind Jos Buttler, who has 627 runs, KL Rahul with 537 runs and Quintom de Kock, who was 502 runs. In the ongoing IPL 2022 season, Warner scored 427 runs in 11 innings.

About David Warner

Warner is an Australian cricketer and a former captain of the national Australian cricket team. The 35-year-old became the first Australian cricketer in more than 130 years to be selected for the national team without prior experience in first-class cricket.

Throughout the years, he managed to reach numerous milestones on both the national and club level. In 2017, Warner was the 4th player to win the Allan Border Medal on several occasions, was selected as the player of the tournament in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and was included in both the ICC ODI and ICC Test teams of the decade.

Even though he’s considered the best batter of this era, Warner’s reputation was struck after he was suspended by Cricket Australia. The reason for that is the aforementioned ball-tampering during Australia’s match against South Africa. A board meeting on March 28, 2018, resulted in Warner receiving a ban from both domestic and international cricket in Australia for one full year. Additionally, his privileges of leadership positions in teams were permanently taken out.

However, that did not stop Warner in his quest for greatness as he scored the 2nd highest individual score by a Test batsman from Australia against Pakistan in 2019.
