Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed concerns about Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant's form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Aakash Chopra stated that Rishabh Pant is yet to reach his vintage batting form, adding that it will take a little time.

Rishabh Pant has scored 254 runs in eight innings at an average of 36.29 and an impressive strike rate of 150.29. However, he struggled to score against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the recent match. The southpaw scored 44 runs off 35 balls while chasing a target of 267 runs in Delhi.

DC will face the Gujarat Titans (GT), captained by Shubman Gill, in their next match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, April 24. The Rishabh Pant-led team secured a comfortable six-wicket victory against the Titans in their previous encounter in Ahmedabad on April 17.

Rishabh Pant Can Bat Slightly Up The Order - Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra suggested that Rishabh Pant should bat slightly higher in the order. Chopra stated that Pant needs to make the right decisions as a captain and bat well in the upcoming match.

"I am thinking about Rishabh Pant once again. It's like a broken record. You can bat slightly up the order because these battles need to be won from the front. You are batting well. You cannot say the vintage Rishabh Pant is back. It takes time. At times you feel that he is back and then you feel it will take a little time," Chopra said.

"A little game of hide and seek is going on. However, Rishabh Pant the captain and Rishabh Pant the batter, there is no doubt that he is keeping well, will be important in this match. He should make the right decisions, come at the right number, and then bat well," he added.

David Warner Needs To Fire - Aakash Chopra

The cricketer-turned-commentator stated that the Delhi Capitals need runs from David Warner for success. Chopra mentioned that Warner couldn't score much in the last match despite playing well before that.

"I am thinking that if this team has to do well, David Warner needs to fire. He missed a match due to injury, he was seen batting well in one or two matches before that, but couldn't do that in the last match," Chopra stated.

"Delhi need runs from David Warner's bat. David Warner also needs runs because he is an IPL GOAT. He is brilliant, he is outstanding but in cricket, like in movies, you are only as good as your last innings. I am hoping for Delhi's sake that he does well."

David Warner suffered a left-hand injury during the Delhi Capitals' game against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He missed the subsequent match against the Gujarat Titans. In his absence, Jake Fraser-McGurk partnered with Prithvi Shaw as the opening batter for the team.

The Australian batter scored just one run off three balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-handed batter has scored 167 runs in 7 matches at an average of 23.86 and a strike rate of 135.77, with a best score of 52.
