Delhi Capitals (DC) are hosting Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 64th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the two teams, which will decide their fate in the league, is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday (14th May).

Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will be squaring off with each other for the second time this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The first fixture between the teams saw the Rishabh Pant-led dominating the opposition and winning the game by 6 wickets at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Overall in the head-to-head fixtures between the two teams, Lucknow Super Giants have an upper hand over the Delhi Capitals. The two teams have squared off with each other in 4 games and the KL Rahul-led side has emerged victorious in three of those games with decent margins.

Both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are very much in contention for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League. However, the game between them today can decide their fate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). A win for either of the teams would keep them in the hunt for playoffs.

Delhi Capitals are placed 6th on the points with 6 wins and 7 defeats from the 13 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They have 12 points under their belt with -0.482 NRR. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have 6 wins and 6 defeats but are 7th on the points table with -0.769 NRR.

Both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will be entering the game on the back of disappointing defeats. While the Delhi-based franchise suffered a 47-run thrashing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the Lucknow-based outfit bagged a 10-wicket hammering at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

IPL 2024: Who are the impact players nominated by DC and LSG for match 64 of IPL 2024

Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to field first in the game against DC. He talked about the young bowling lineup they have and stated that they want to figure out what’s best for the team.

“We will bowl first. It is because of how our team is placed and what will help our team. We are a young bowling attack and get them into the game early, we have experienced batters and they can take the pressure. It is pretty clear for us, that we have to win both games. In thelast two games we have not been up to the mark and have been blasted out of the game. The bowlers have to be brave, as a bowling unit you might fear using change ups but they have to do just back themselves. Couple of changes.”

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant on the other hand stated that they would’ve batted first as they want to score as many runs as possible. He also stressed on the importance of fielding.

“We would have batted first. There are a lot of things going on (regarding qualification) but you can only focus on winning the game. If you had not lost too many wickets we would have won that game, but easier to say that from sitting out. That is a concern throughout the season but as a captain you can ask the players to give their best and they are doing that. We have two changes - myself and Naib come in, Warner misses out.”
