Delhi Capitals' explosive batter Tristan Stubbs created a moment of magic at the Arun Jaitley stadium last night to help Rishabh Pant's side from losing to Gujarat Titans

Tristan Stubbs displayed one of the best fielding moments of IPL 2024 when he saved 5 out of the 6 possible runs that could have been scored off Rasikh Salem. That particular save proved to be the game-changer for the Delhi Capitals as in the end, those 5 runs saved them from losing their 6th league game of the season.

DC's 1st innings with the bat as it went

The effort from Tristan Stubbs could have been much more sensational had he converted that fielding effort into a catch but it still was a terrific save. Following the 1st innings blitz which saw Rishabh Pant show his true colors against GT's bowling attack in front of home support, GT's chase of 225 runs had reached very close.

Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill had won the toss and elected to bowl first on a flat batting surface at the National capital. DC started positively as Jake Fraser-McGurk got them off to a flyer in the powerplay before his and Prithvi Shaw's back-to-back departures. Delhi's move to send Axar Patel at number 3 worked wonders as the all-rounder settled the innings with his calmness and reliability.

Then after Shai Hope's dismissal at 5 off 6, Rishabh Pant entered the crease to help his side post at least 200 on the board. After a few overs of batting slowly, Pant and Axar started boosting the run-rate and eventually stitched a partnership of 113 runs before the latter's exit for 66 off 43.

Rishabh Pant then found the support of Tristan Stubbs and the duo took Delhi from 157 to a total of 224. Pant accelerated his innings brilliantly towards the end while Stubbs smashed a quickfire 26 off with 3 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of over 350.

Tristan Stubbs becomes Super Stubbs with his effort

In the 19th over of the 2nd innings when GT were 7 down and 31 runs were needed off 10, Tristan Stubbs denied Rashid Khan from scoring a six. After conceding a wide and 4 runs, Rasikh Salam bowled a length delivery to Rashid, who slogged it strongly towards long-on to clear the fence.

However, Tristan Stubbs was there at the right time. The South African had perfectly timed his jump as he first grabbed the ball with both hands before realizing that he was on the verge of crossing the boundary. Stubbs, instinctively threw the ball inside the ground, using his right hand, and eventually saved those crucial 5 runs.

All the DC fans in the stadium had their hearts coming out of their mouth after seeing the powerful strike from Rashid Khan. But Tristan Stubbs became "Super Stubbs" with that effort which ultimately helped the Delhi Capitals do the double over the 2022 champions.

Rishabh Pant walks away as man of the match

With match number 40 concluding in favor of Delhi Capitals, skipper Rishabh Pant was adjudged as man of the match for his tremendous 88 off 43. His knock included 5 fours and 8 sixes and with that MOTM award, Spiderman became the first IPL captain in 2024 to win 2 player of the match awards.
