DC vs RCB: "It Wouldn't Surprise Me If They Get On A Bit Of A Roll Now" - Tom Moody Feels RCB Will Be More Effective In Away Games Than Home

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody believes that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be more effective in the away games as compared to home because they don’t have a bowling attack to defend targets at home. He said that with the kind of momentum they have, they can get on a roll now.
RCB received massive support in their last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The crowd supported them more than the home side which pumped them and saw them winning the game by 18 runs to register their 5th win of the season.

Mohammed Siraj drew the first blood for the side and then they didn’t look back after that as they were all over the LSG batters. Josh Hazlewood, who played his first game of the season, and Karn Sharma picked two wickets each whereas Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Harshal Patel picked one wicket each as they bowled out the opposition for just 108 runs to win the game by 18 runs and climb to the 5th spot on the points table.

Tom Moody said that getting the win on their road trip is a great thing for RCB as it’ll give them positive momentum. He also pointed out the dangerous duo Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood will make with the new ball. Speaking to the ESPNCricinfo, he said:
“Psychologically, clearly there’s an obstacle at home, and also with regards to the balance of their side and their squad just hasn’t quite got the pieces to be able to defend effectively at home. But away from home, to get this early win on their road trip, which is an extensive one, it’ll just give them that positive momentum that they desperately need.
It wouldn’t surprise me if they get on a bit of a roll now. There are two quality bowlers taking a new ball. Siraj has been up there. And suddenly, he’s looking at the other end, and there’s another guy right alongside him delivering the same stuff.”

Deep Dasgupta, who was also present at the discussion, also pointed out that they are more suited in other pitches than Chinnaswamy and they have three great bowlers in the ranks. He explained:
“We did have a chat about this, whether away games suit RCB more than home games, I completely agree with that. I have a feel they are better suited on the other pitches as compared to the one you get at Chinnaswamy.
And now that Hazlewood is back, that’s a big positive. Then you have Harshal. Two gun new ball bowlers, one proper death over bowler. So it’s coming together. I won’t be surprised, as Tom said, If they go on a run here.”
RCB will play four more away games before returning home. They will next be seen in action when they will take on Delhi Capitals in their next game on Saturday (6th May).
