Karun Nair bags a golden duck in SRH vs DC clash

Nair was bought by the Delhi Capitals for INR 50 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. He entered the marquee T20 tournament on the back of a sensational domestic cricket season where he slammed runs across all formats and emerged as the best batsman.

He played his first match in the Indian Premier League 2025 for Delhi Capitals against the Mumbai Indians and impressed everyone with his batting masterclass.

Nair played a brilliant knock of 89 runs off 40 balls against the 5-time champions and took the premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah to the cleaners.

His innings caught the eyes of everyone, and many felt that he would set the stage on fire for the rest of the competition and make his India comeback for the England tour.

However, since his innings against MI, Karun Nair's performance has gone downhill, and it hit rock bottom in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad as he bagged a golden duck. He has registered scores of 0(1) vs SRH, 15(13) vs KKR, 4(4) vs RCB, 15(9) vs LSG, 31(18) vs GT and 0(3) vs RR since his heroics against Mumbai Indians.

Notably, he opened the innings with Faf du Plessis against SRH and got out on the first ball of the match. Pat Cummins bowled a good length delivery outside off-stump, and Nair stood rooted to his crease and had a loose waft at it, and the ball took a slight edge to go into the hands of keeper Ishan Kishan.

Here's How Fans Reacted To Karun Nair's Golden Duck vs SRH:

I think I'm still batting well - Karun Nair

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Karun Nair said that he is quite satisfied with his batting performances in IPL 2025.

“I think I'm still batting well. It’s about converting those 20 runs to bigger scores. That's where you can change matches for your team and making those 15 or 20 runs is also impactful sometimes,” Nair said.

The senior batter also highlighted the importance of peaking at the right time in the Indian Premier League.

"We've had a bit of a break just to have a reset. So we've had time as a team to go back to the things that we were doing well. It's about peaking at the right time,” he said.
