Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) is interested in acquiring the services of Paras Mhambrey ahead of the next edition of the tournament. As per the reports in Revsportz, it is learned that the franchise is keen to have an Indian name as the bowling coach in the league.

Paras Mhambrey was part of the Indian team as the bowling coach till the T20 World Cup 2024. His tenure ended after that tournament and if Men in Blue doesn't reappoint him then the Delhi Capitals franchise wants Paras Mhambrey to join their set-up for the upcoming editions of the league.

Paras Mhambrey has had a huge success with the India National Cricket Team as the bowling coach. He joined the team after the T20 World Cup 2021 and since then he worked closely with the bowlers and helped them uphill their skill, which was quite evident with the way Indian bowlers bowled during his tenure.

During the time when Paras Mhambrey was part of the Indian team, they finished as runners-up in the ICC World Cup, 2023 hosted in India and the ICC World Test Championship in 2023 hosted in England. They were semi-finalists in T20 World 2022 and also drew Test series in South Africa. Apart from this they also won Asia Cup 2023.

If the reports of Delhi Capitals roping in Paras Mhambrey emerge to be true then it might be an end for the James Hopes as the bowling coach of the team. He has been part of the team for the last few seasons but things didn't work for the team as they have struggled to get going with the ball.

Delhi Capitals are having a tough time the in Indian Premier League. They are amongst the teams who haven't won the tournament along with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings. They have made playoffs a few times but failed to lift the title.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Delhi Capitals finished 5th on the points table. They looked favourites to qualify but fell short of the 4th spot due to the NRR. However, in the next edition, they would be hoping to change their fortunes and win their first-ever title.

Delhi Capitals part ways with Ricky Ponting

Recently Delhi Capitals also parted ways with head coach Ricky Ponting ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He joined the team in 2018 but under him, the team didn't do any good. Although they played their first-ever final in 2021, they failed to win the title.

It was learned as per the reports in PTI that Delhi Capitals owners weren't happy with Ricky Ponting's performance as the head coach. Therefore they want a different coaching staff going into the next edition of the tournament. Speaking to PTI, an official stated:

"The top brass of Delhi Capitals has intimated to Ricky that they aren't happy that the team didn't win a championship in seven years and they are trying to look at rejigging the support staff. He won't be continuing next year."

The owners reportedly were unhappy with Ponting as they wanted him to be involved in the auction process and team building, rather than joining a couple of weeks before the start of IPL.
