During Day 2 of the second Test match, Dhruv Jurel smacked a hundred on Monday, as it was his second ton. He showcased a special celebration after scoring the hundred in this game.
The Men in Blue are already leading 0-1 in the two-match series after thumping the home side in the first Test match at Galle by 165 runs. In the second Test match, Shubman Gill’s side also showcased the same domination from the very first day of the match, as Devdutt Padikkal was the first player from the side to score a hundred in the match.

Dhruv Jurel took his time, as he had waited on 99 runs for a long time while batting with the tailender Mohammed Siraj, who supported him. He achieved his second Test century in 171 balls. While achieving his hundred, he nearly got run out on 99 runs as he took a risky single while batting on one short of the three-figure mark.

Dhruv Jurel is the 9th Indian batter at No. 7 position to smash an overseas Test hundred. Soon after scoring his he showcased a special tattoo celebration, which had the “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan” tattoo written on it.

It displays his love for the country, and he also comes from an Army family, as his father, Nem Chand (also known as Nem Singh Jurel), is a retired Havildar of the Indian Army and a veteran of the 1999 Kargil War. He remained unbeaten on the score of 115 runs off 177 balls, smashing 9 fours and two sixes.
He is the second batter to register a Test hundred from No.7 or lower for India in Sri Lanka, after Hardik Pandya (108 in Pallekele in 2017). The last Test hundred from No.7 or lower for India in Tests was Nitish Kumar Reddy's 114 at the MCG in December 2024.

India dominate yet again
The Men in Blue have declared on a score of 503/9, as India won the toss and opted to bat first. They made one change, with Kuldeep Yadav sitting out due to illness and Saransh Jain making his debut.
Padikkal scored 117 runs off 193 deliveries, smashing 12 fours in the innings. Apart from the two centurions, two batters scored fifties, skipper Shubman Gill (50) and Rishabh Pant (63). India will be looking to pick some wickets in the last session of Day 2.
