During the second day of the India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test match at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (SSC) in Colombo, Dhruv Jurel, after reaching his second Test hundred and his first away from home, displayed a special celebration. Now he revealed the reason for the celebration after the end of the day’s play and why he kept wickets instead of Rishabh Pant.
India have complete control of the 2nd Test match, from the very start of Day 1. Two Indian batters scored centuries in the first innings, in the form of Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel. The Men in Blue scored 503/9 and declared the innings late on Day 2. Sri Lanka are currently two wickets down and looking in deep trouble.
"Celebration was for them": Dhruv Jurel dedicates century to family
While speaking to the media, Jurel revealed that the tattoo celebration flashing “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan” was for his father and grandfather. As he comes from an Army background, with his father being in the Army and his grandfather being a farmer, he dedicated this hundred to them as he never wants to forget his roots.
Dhruv Jurel said (as quoted by RevSportz), "My grandfather was a farmer and my father a soldier. I don’t want to forget my roots and that celebration was for them. I dedicate this century to my parents. They have sacrificed a lot, and to Jai Bajrangbali."
Dhruv Jurel shares update on Rishabh Pant's absence from the field
Apart from sharing the reason behind the special celebration, he also provided an update on Rishabh Pant, who batted on day 2 after being retired hurt on day 1, being struck at the left wrist. The Southpaw scored 63 runs on day 2 before being dismissed. However, he did not keep the wickets; Jurel provided an update on the same.
Jurel, while speaking to the media, said, "Rishabh Pant had pain on his shoulder so I kept the wickets today. He should be fine to keep tomorrow. The medical team is closely monitoring him."
He further added, "To play Test cricket for India is a pride for all of us. To wear the baggy blue, it gives goosebumps. It's special. Everyone plays differently."
"The way Pant plays, it's different. I can't play like that. I keep on asking him how to take on a bowler. Pant and I play for the same country. When he scores, I feel happy. When I score, he feels good. It's good."

India have a strong hold on the second Test match as well, as Sri Lanka are 8/2 after three overs at the end of day 2. The Men in Blue captain Shubman Gill is yet again winning the toss and opting to bat first as the Indian batters dominated from the very start of the match.
Padikkal played a knock of 117 runs, with Gill and Pant scoring half-centuries respectively. Jurel brought up his second ton and created several records as India looks for a clean sweep against the hosts, as they are already 0-1 up in the series.
