Marcus Stoinis, on Tuesday (April 23), came up with one of the best knocks in the history of IPL to power Lucknow Super Giants to a memorable win over Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
CSK had won all of their three home games this season before taking on LSG. And when Ruturaj Gaikwad's century and Shivam Dube's whirlwind fifty powered them to a big total of 210/4, they looked destined to win the fourth game as well.
Leading from the very front, Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 108 runs from 60 balls. Dube, on the other hand, slammed 66 runs from just 27 balls with the help of three fours and seven sixes. In reply, LSG were reeling at 33 for 2 inside the powerplay after losing the wickets of their star batters - Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul. Devdutt Padikkal could not do much with the bat either and departed for 13.
LSG's cheeky message after win over CSK:
Marcus Stoinis, however, waged a lone battle and scored an unbeaten century to pull off a miraculous win for his side. He completed his century off 56 balls and remained till the end to take his team home. In the final over when LSG needed 17 runs, the Australia star scored the required runs in just three legal deliveries by hitting Mustafizur Rahman for a six and two fours.
And as Marcus Stoinis powered LSG to the famous win, the franchise came up with a cheeky message that might not go down well with the CSK fans. Soon after Marcus Stoinis' heroics, LSG took to Twitter to praise him with a compliment that is related to CSK legend MS Dhoni as they wrote: "MS FINISHES OFF IN STYLE IN CHENNAI!"
