Digvesh Rathi, Nitish Rana brutally penalized after DPL assault

After the ugly brawl between Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi in the recently concluded DPL Eliminator between South Delhi Superstarz and West Delhi Lions, the two players have been fined for their on-field misconduct by the Delhi Cricket Association and the DPL authorities.
The DPL contest, which has often witnessed several heated exchanges among the teams, marked another massive exchange of words, which, for once, also looked like it was taking the shape of a physical altercation until the lady umpire intervened. This incident was marked in the Eliminator match.
The West Delhi Lions faced the South Delhi Superstarz in the Eliminator, and two of the heated exchanges have caught the attention of the fans, one between Rathi and Rana and the other between Krish Yadav and Aman Bharti.
DDCA fines Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana for ugly tiff in DPL Eliminator
The heated exchange between South Delhi Superstarz bowler Rathi and West Delhi skipper Nitish Rana escalated as the skipper involved himself, and no one could play an intervening role until the umpire stepped in.
The 134-run innings from the West Delhi batter marked several fireworks, either with the bat or occasionally with words as well, since Digvesh Rathi seemed to instigate him with mind games.
Digvesh has been fined 80% of his match fees for breaching the Code of Conduct under Article 2.2 for behaviour deemed contrary to the spirit of the game. Rana was fined 50% of his match fees for a breach under Article 2.6 (Level 1) for using a gesture that was considered obscene, offensive, or insulting.
Digvesh Rathi fined for the 5th time in 2025
Digvesh Rathi made his debut for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025 and was their best spinner with the most number of wickets as well. However, he was held responsible and punished for several on-field offences, and disciplinary actions were taken against the bowler.
The very first incident occurred in a match against the Punjab Kings, where he instigated his former DPL teammate Priyansh Arya with a send-off after having dismissed him. This resulted in him getting a 25% fine on match fees and 2 demerit points; however, he repeated the same offence against Naman Dhir in a match against the Mumbai Indians.
This time, a further 50% of the match fee was deducted, while 2 more demerit points were added. He reached the extent of toleration in confrontation with Abhishek Sharma, for which he was fined a large amount, making his total fines go to INR 9.37 lakh in his debut season.
The West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz match witnessed penalties on 5 players
Alongside the West Delhi skipper Nitish Rana and the Superstarz spinner Digvesh Rathi, several other players from both teams also got involved in an intense war of words, which often led to a scary battle that led to physical confrontations.
Krish Yadav, the West Delhi batter who engaged in a tiff with the bowler Aman Bharti after his dismissal, has been fined the heaviest penalty, that is, 100% of his match fees under Article 2.3 (Level 2), for audible obscenity and pointing his bat towards an opposing player following an abuse.
Aman Bharti, the bowler, received the lowest penalty with a 30% fine for a breach under Article 2.3 (Level 1) for the use of audible obscenity during the match. Sumit Mathur was fined 50% under Article 2.5 (Level 1) for using language or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player.
