Dinesh Karthik has had a remarkable turn of events, going from commentating Team India’s games in 2021 to launching an incredible return in 2022. Karthik was given a chance to rejoin the national squad following an outstanding IPL 2022 performance, and it’s safe to say that he seized the chance with style.

Karthik was a member of the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against South Africa after serving as a match finisher for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2022. The seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman performed admirably and was later chosen for the tour of Ireland and England.

Dinesh Karthik Responds When Asked If He Intended To Stay For The ODI World Cup

Former cricketers have supported the 37-year-old to earn a spot in India’s T20I team for the ICC T20I World Cup in Australia, despite some inconsistent performances during the UK trip. Karthik has frequently said how much he wished he could have represented India in the World Cup.

Karthik was recently questioned about his ambitions for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India, even though he still has a chance to play in the T20I spectacular in a few months.

Notably, the veteran is yet to play an ODI match for the Men in Blue. Recently, Karthik visited the cricket academy of former Indian bowler Pankaj Singh in SMS Stadium Jaipur and was asked if he intended to stay for the ODI World Cup in his country.

However, he responded that he wasn’t permitted to speak about Indian cricket until he travelled to the West Indies for the T20I assignment.

“I have been informed to not make any comment on Indian cricket till I reach West Indies. Sorry,” replied Karthik.
