The civil unrest in Belfast has put the upcoming India vs Ireland T20I series in doubt. On Sunday, amid BCCI’s squad announcement for the ODIs against England during the United Kingdom tour, Cricbuzz shares an update on India’s T20Is against Ireland.
According to the post, amid the tensions in Belfast, the bilateral series will be underway as per the schedule. Cricket Ireland also informed about their stance ahead of the series. The cricket board has informed that the series will run as per the original schedule, as they have reviewed the current situation.
Cricket Ireland has assured about the series vs India
“Following a comprehensive review of the current security environment in Belfast, Cricket Ireland can confirm that both Ireland v India T20 International matches at Stormont on 26 and 28 June will proceed as planned,” the cricket board wrote in the official website on June 18.

Cricket Ireland assured safety for all involved in the series
The latest situation in Belfast is threatening to arrange a cricket match. Cricket Ireland further mentions that they are closely monitoring the situation with all of the parties involved in the India vs Ireland series, as the safety and security of every cricketer, staff, and every other individual is the primary priority for the board. The board has assured that the current situation will cause no trouble for the matches.
“The safety and well-being of everyone involved in the series remains our highest priority. We continue to work closely with the PSNI, venue management and security partners, and are satisfied that the appropriate measures are in place to ensure the safe and successful staging of both fixtures,” the official statement reads.
“Current assessments indicate no specific threat to the matches, participating teams, officials, spectators, or the venue, and there are no plans for protests or demonstrations that would impact either match day,” it added.
Ireland will host India for the first T20I of the India vs Ireland series at Stormont on 26 followed by the second on 28 June.
Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the India vs Ireland series
For the T20I series against the Irish national cricket team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full squad under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. On Sunday, the BCCI informed that the experienced spinner, Varun Chakravarthy, will miss the series because of a toe injury. According to the board, the spinner is in the last phase of rehabilitation at the Center of Excellence.
The India vs Ireland series is going to be attractive for another reason: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
