Dinesh Karthik ignores Ravi Shastri, names his top two favorite commentators

Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has recently picked his two favorite commentators in the current generation. While he named four commentators, Karthik named Nasser Hussain and Ian Bishop as two of his favorite commentators among them.

Interestingly, Dinesh Karthik himself has some experience of being in the commentary box. He has previously worked as a commentator with Sky Sports during England's home season. As a result, he has the experience of doing commentary with some of the finest in the world.

Dinesh Karthik picks his two favorite commentators

During a Q&A segment 'HeyCB' on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik was asked about his favorite commentator apart from Dinesh Karthik himself. Karthik shared a laugh by seeing his own name and then named Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Michael Atherton, and Ravi Shastri as some of his favorite commentators.

"Dinesh Karthik is definitely not my favorite commentator (laughs). But I really like the work of a few commentators Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Michael Atherton, Ravi Shastri," Karthik said.

However, Dinesh Karthik named Nasser Hussain and Ian Bishop among his top two favorite commentators.

"Well, there are a few but if I had to pick one or two, I'd say Nasser Hussain and Ian Bishop," he added.

Nasser Hussain and Ian Bishop are regarded as the two legendary commentators of all time. Both have legendary voices and are loved among cricket fans all around the world.

Nasser Hussain and Ian Bishop's cricket careers

Nasser Hussain played for England between 1989 and 2004. He also led England to many famous victories as a captain. He is a part of the Sky Sports commentary team and is currently involved in England's ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka at home.

Meanwhile, Ian Bishop is a former fast bowler who represented West Indies between 1988 and 1998 in ODIs and Tests. He had excellent records in both formats and had 279 international wickets to his name in 43 Tests and 84 ODIs.

Dinesh Karthik likely to take up the role of commentator after cricket

Dinesh Karthik announced his retirement from international cricket just before the start of the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Karthik had a long international career which started way back in 2004. Despite a lot of ups and downs during his career, the former wicketkeeper-batter showed immense determination to play for his country.

Before announcing his international retirement, Karthik had already announced that IPL 2024 would be his last IPL as a player. He was exceptional in his last season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he scored 326 runs at a strike rate of 187.36.

However, his professional cricket career is not over yet as he will represent Paarl Royals in the next season of SA20. After finishing his professional cricket career, he is likely to join the commentary box.
