England opener Ben Duckett gave it back to Team India skipper Shubman Gill on Day 4 (Sunday, July 13) of the third Test of the ongoing five-match series at Lord's Cricket Ground in London. Duckett's sly dig at the Indian captain for his earlier clash with Zak Crawley went viral on social media platforms.
With the five-match Test series between India and England evenly poised, emotions have been visible on the field. Players from both sides have been involved in verbal exchanges, each trying to unsettle the opposition team. India needs 135 runs to take the lead in the series, while England needs six wickets.
600 Runs and Shubman Gill Is Done for His Series - Ben Duckett
Shubman Gill walked in to bat in the 13th over of India’s second innings after Brydon Carse dismissed Karun Nair for 14. Gill received hostility from the England players, who used the opportunity to take revenge for the heated exchange on Day 3, when India accused Zak Crawley of time-wasting.
Ben Duckett tried to sledge the Indian batter. Walking past from the backward point, Duckett took a direct shot at Gill, referencing his run tally in the series.
Caught on the stump mic, Duckett was heard saying, "600 runs and he is done for his series. 600 runs is enough for this fella."

Shubman Gill Falls to Brydon Carse a Few Deliveries Later
Shubman Gill was dismissed by Brydon Carse a few deliveries later. Carse trapped him lbw with a delivery that nipped back in. Gill, beaten on the inside edge and struck on the knee roll, opted for a review after consulting KL Rahul.
However, the replays showed no edge on UltraEdge and ball-tracking confirmed all three reds. The 25-year-old batter had to walk back to the dressing room after scoring just six runs.
It was his second failure in the ongoing Test. Gill was caught behind off Chris Woakes for 16 in the first innings. The right-handed batter had scored 585 runs in the first two Tests, including three centuries, during his captaincy debut.
Shubman Gill Etches His Name into the Record Books at Lord’s
Shubman Gill etched his name into the record books in the first innings at Lord’s, becoming the highest run-scorer for India in a Test series in England. The Indian captain surpassed Rahul Dravid’s record of 602 runs from the 2002 tour.
Gill scored a total of 430 runs across two innings in the second Test at Edgbaston, including a double century. The No.4 batter has scored 607 runs in the series from six innings at an impressive average of 101.16.
Former captains Virat Kohli (593 in 2018) and Sunil Gavaskar (542 in 1979) are also among the all-time list for most runs by an Indian in a Test series in England. Dravid also scored 461 runs during the 2011 tour, where the team suffered a 0-4 whitewash.
