In match no.64, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosted the bottom-placed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. This was the reverse fixture as both teams had previously met in Lucknow. After a Vaibhav Sooryavanshi show at Jaipur, they won by 7 wickets. The Men in Pink did a double over the Super Giants, keeping their hopes alive for the playoffs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal came in as a captain with Riyan Parag being out injured with a hamstring. The Southpaw won the toss and opted to field first, as they brought in three players, Lhuan-dre-Pretorius, Sushant Mishra, and Sandeep Sharma. LSG also made changes Mohsin Khan in place of Mohammed Shami, and Ayush Badoni came in for Aiden Markram.

Mitchell Marsh missed a century

After being put into bat first, the fiery duo of Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis were off to a blazing start, scoring 82/0 in the powerplay. They had a 109-run partnership for the first wicket as the latter was the first to be dismissed on the score of 60 off 29 balls.

Marsh and Nicholas Pooran then took on the innings. The former scored his half-century in 25 balls. Pooran, who looked in good touch, was back scoring 16 runs. The Aussie skipper yet again missed out on his hundred, being run out on the score of 96 runs in the final over. LSG finished off with the score of 220/5 in their 20 overs.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi keeps RR hopes alive

While chasing it were Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who were off to a similar start, scoring 71 runs in the power play. The former was the aggressor, scoring 43 runs, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was anchoring the innings. After the wicket of Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took over the charge and went berserk in the match.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took his time and played a sensational knock of 93 runs, hitting 10 sixes and 7 fours in his blistering innings. The Southpaw deserved a hundred, but he failed to achieve it by 7 runs. Dhruv Jurel scored a fine half-century in 37 deliveries and remained unbeaten with the score of 53.

My focus should just remain on the game- Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won the Player of the Match for his exceptional innings. He shared his insights on the celebration after scoring a half-century and his plans about taking on the bowlers as he was confident of catching up the score very fast.

Vaibhav said, "Nothing much. I was just thinking because I was sitting outside during the bowling innings and the wicket looked good. I was thinking that today I shouldn’t rush too much at the start, I should take some time and if I bat for a longer period, it’s going to help the batter at the other end as well."

"I know I can hit two or three boundaries or sixes anytime, so I can take a little more time and not rush too much and try to take the game till the end. (on dealing with all the attention and praise at a young age) Nothing much. I don’t really see too much, I don’t read newspapers and all, so I don’t think too much about it. I just think that this is only the start."

Vaibhav concluded, saying, "If my career becomes long and I play for a long time, people will say many more things. My focus should just remain on the game and I should complete my journey. (on his celebration) Sir, I don’t know. I just do something new every match."

"I don’t really plan it. There’s no meaning behind it. Even the celebration I did in the last match had no meaning. I just keep trying new things."
