Dr. Lachlan Henderson Elected As The New Chairman Of Cricket Australia

Dr. Lachlan Henderson was elected as the new chairman of the board of directors of Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday. He will begin his duties immediately.
“I would like to thank Richard, the other CA directors and the state chairs and boards for their support. It is a privilege and honour to be elected chair and serve our national sport.”
“I’m really excited by the opportunities ahead. The CA board is relatively new, with seven of the nine members having been on the board for less than three and a half years, and the imminent appointment of a new independent director will bring further fresh ideas and perspectives to the board,” Dr Henderson mentioned in an official release.

The procedure to appoint the new chairman involves quite a few processes and parties – a leading recruitment firm and both internal and external candidates.
It also requires consulting with the boards of the state cricket associations and asking for their feedback on potential candidates. After deliberation and assessment of the candidates, Henderson was unanimously elected as the chairman.
Lachlan Henderson’s experience so far
Henderson has played for state junior teams for Western Australia (WA) and also first grade in Perth. He was the chairman of the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) and a director of CA for the last three years.

He was instrumental in developing the Perth Stadium and also played a major role in implementing the WACA Ground Improvement Project.
