Duleep Trophy 2024: Shubman Gill removed from captaincy as BCCI announces revised squads for tournament

On Tuesday, September 10, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the completed revised squads for the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25.
The second round of the marquee domestic competition Duleep Trophy is all set to begin on September 12 in Anantapur with India A taking on India D and India B locking horns with India C.
Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced the squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on September 19. Hence, most of the players who are part of the India squad will miss out on the second round of the Duleep Trophy.
Starting with India A, their skipper Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep have been replaced by Pratham Singh (Railways), Akshay Wadkar (Vidarbha CA), SK Rasheed (Andhra CA), Shams Mulani and Aaqib Khan (UPCA).
India A are set to play the second round of the Duleep Trophy under the leadership of the veteran batsman Mayank Agarwal, who has been picked as the new skipper of the side for the match by BCCI selectors.

Meanwhile, India B will be missing the services of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant and the star duo have been replaced by Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh. Also, Yash Dayal will miss the fixture, but Sarfaraz Khan will play the game despite being part of the India Test squad. Also, Himanshu Mantri (Madhya Pradesh CA) has been added to the squad.
There have been no changes to the India C squad, but India D has seen some notable changes, with Nishant Sindhu (Haryana CA) replacing Axar Patel and India A’s Vidwath Kaverappa replacing Tushar Deshpande, who has been ruled out of the second round due to a niggle.
Talking about the results of the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024, India B hammered India A by 76 runs to start their tournament on a high while India C beat India D by 4 wickets. Both India A and India D would be aiming to bounce back from the defeats to deliver a good performance in the second round of the marquee domestic competition.
