Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson stunned everyone with his batting in the Duleep Trophy match between India D and India A. Sanju Samson, playing his first Duleep Trophy match of the season, smashed glorious shots at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Sunday, September 15.
He wasn't included in any of the four squads for the Duleep Trophy 2024 season. However, he was recalled to the squad after Ishan Kishan was ruled out of the first match. Sanju Samson didn't get a chance in the playing XI during the first game but returned to the playing XI for the second round.
The bowler dismissed the right-handed batter for five runs off six deliveries during the first innings. However, he played a fiery knock under pressure during the second innings. He came to bat when the team was at 158/4 in a chase of 488 runs. Samson took the spinners to the cleaners on the fourth day.

That Partnership Took Away The Momentum - Shreyas Iyer
After the match, Shreyas Iyer said that Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian's partnership shifted the momentum in the opposition's favor. Iyer acknowledged the challenging conditions, as the batters struggled to score on a turning track.
"Right from ball 1, we were on the mark. Picked up four wickets. But Shams and Kotian have been performing brilliantly. That partnership of 120 plus took away the momentum. We came in and lost wickets," he stated.
Iyer said: "We were trailing from then on. The ball turned. Batters were getting beaten. The way their batters batted in the second innings was superb. 488 on a given day is not an easy task. We were calculating in our minds how to go about it." He concluded: We will look to have a good contest in the next game."
Shreyas Iyer-led team will play their final group stage match against India B at the ACA-VDCA Ground in Anantapur, starting on Thursday, September 19. They are at the bottom of the table without any victories in the first two matches.
