Former Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has criticized Cricket West Indies (CWI) for their decision to remove Rovman Powell as the T20I captain. On Monday, Cricket West Indies named wicketkeeper-batter Shai Hope as the new skipper of the West Indies T20I team, leading to disappointment from Bravo.
Rovman Powell took over as the West Indies T20I captain in May 2023. Powell led the team to home series victories against India, England, and South Africa. Shai Hope's appointment as the new T20I captain signals a shift for West Indies cricket. The wicketkeeper-batter is captaining the Windies ODI side.

Dwayne Bravo called sacking Rovman Powell from T20I captaincy "one of the worst decisions ever." He stated that Powell's leadership helped the team rise from 9th to 3rd in the T20 rankings. Dwayne Bravo questioned the mistreatment of players and urged the cricket board to make sense of the decision.
"@windiescricket once again you guys prove to the people of the Caribbean and the cricket world that the injustices towards players continues! As a former player and a fan of WI cricket," Dwayne Bravo wrote on Instagram.
"this is easily one of the worst decisions ever @ravipowell52 taking over captaincy when our T20 team was in 9th spot and was able to move up to 3rd sport in the rankings and this is how you guys repay him, the bad treatment towards players when would it Stop! This is so sad on all levels..make it make sense! SMH," he added.
