Former India batsman and the Chennai Super Kings batting backbone, Suresh Raina has expressed his excitement on his return to the IPL and in the yellow jersey again.

Suresh Raina pulled out of the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons – he even went to the UAE to participate in the tournament but returned back home with his family after some cases of the COVID-19 virus were found in the CSK contingent; also, Raina’s uncle had died in an unfortunate incident, hence, he decided to fly back home.

“It was a personal decision and I had to come back for my family. There was something that needed to be addressed immediately on the home front.  My family is most important to me and I am really concerned for them during these times. I haven’t seen my kids for more than 20 days, even after coming back, since I am in quarantine,” Suresh Raina had told Cricbuzz after returning home from the UAE.

However, now ‘Chinna Thala’, who has been the lynchpin of the CSK batting line-up for 10 seasons will be back in action for the 3-time champions.

On Wednesday, the video was posted by CSK’s official Twitter handle showing the left-hander warming up before hitting a few balls in a local ground.

“In awe of the southpaw! #ChinnaThala – Coming Soon with #WhistlePodu #Yellove @ImRaina,” CSK had tweeted.

Suresh Raina retweeted the video and commented highlighting his eagerness to join his CSK teammates who have commenced their training at the Chepauk Stadium. Skipper MS Dhoni, senior batsman, Ambati Rayudu and other youngsters are participating in a preparatory camp in Chennai before others also assemble ahead of the tournament next month.

“Super Excited and Eagerly waiting to come to our den #Yellove @msdhoni @SPFleming7 @russcsk !” the 34-year-old wrote.

Suresh Raina has played 10 full seasons for CSK – 2 for the now-defunct Gujarat Lions when CSK was banned – and has scored 4527 runs, including a century, in the yellow jersey – 5368 overall IPL runs, just behind Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, Virat Kohli. The MS Dhoni-led side will play their first game this season on April 10th against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium.
