Australia allrounder Glenn Maxwell has broken his silence after being rushed to hospital by ambulance during a boozy night out last week. The World Cup winner had to be taken to the hospital after he passed out in the green room while watching former fast bowler Brett Lee’s band ‘Six and Out’.

Other Australian players as well as West Indies players were also attending the event. After the players failed to rouse him, he had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

After ending his campaign in the ongoing Big Bash League and resigning as the captain of Melbourne Stars, Glenn Maxwell had been in Adelaide for a golf promo before heading out for more drinks. According to reports, those close to the players have suggested that dehydration was the reason.

Glenn Maxwell’s manager provides an update:

Glenn Maxwell’s manager Ben Tippett has provided an update on the player. Taking to The Age, he said that the Australia star is embarrassed by the incident and has already resumed training. He also denied reports stating that Cricket Australia has launched an investigation against him. Tippett also said that the matter was done and dusted after the player talked with chief selector George Bailey,

“Glenn is a little embarrassed by the whole thing,” Tippett said.

“He was a bit sore and sorry on Saturday, but he’s back in Melbourne and resumed training yesterday. He’s not under investigation by Cricket Australia.

“Maxi has spoken to [selector] George Bailey yesterday. We’ve spoken to them, they’ve spoken to us and it’s done. It’s more like ‘you were in hospital and are you okay’?

“He’s back in training yesterday. He had time off for about a week after the Big Bash League and he is back into training doing some specific stuff on his leg which he needs to do,” he added.

Earlier this week, Australia decided against including Maxwell in their ODI squad for the upcoming series against West Indies. Cricket Australia have stated that they took the decision due to workload management. He is expected to return to action for the T20I series against the Caribbean outfit next month.
