ENG vs AUS: "We're Pretty Confident It Will Be Right Tomorrow" - Daniel Vettori On Mitchell Starc’s Injury

Australia are optimistic that their fast bowler Mitchell Starc will be fit to bowl on the third day of the fourth Test match of the ongoing Ashes series at Emirates Old Trafford. Australia’s assistant coach Daniel Vettori confirmed that Mitchell Starc’s injury is not serious and that he can bowl on Day 3.

Mitchell Starc suffered an injury on Day 2 of the ongoing Test match in Manchester. The left-arm pacer landed awkwardly on his left shoulder while attempting a dive at mid-on in the 65th over of England’s innings. He walked off the field after the incident, but returned after the next over.

After the day’s play, Daniel Vettori addressed Mitchell Starc‘s situation, stating that the fast bowler had no issues with his leg, but he had some ice on his shoulder.

“I think the leg is good, no issues there. The shoulder, we saw what happened in the field, he’s currently got some ice on it and we’re pretty confident it will be right tomorrow,” Daniel Vettori said.

However, Starc experienced discomfort while throwing the ball from the boundary line. As a result, He had to leave the ground. Earlier in the day, the pacer also faced difficulties with his shoulder and leg while bowling.

Mitchell Starc Doesn’t Like To Spend Too Long Off The Park – Daniel Vettori

Daniel Vettori Highlighted that Mitchell Starc is a player who doesn’t like spending too much time off the field. Vettori said that the team remains optimistic that Starc will recover and be ready to bowl again.

“He’s one of those guys who doesn’t like to spend too long off the park. But he got straight into a hot spot and three balls in a row came to him in the field and he didn’t quite feel comfortable throwing it. I haven’t actually spoken to him but that’s what it looked [like]. We’re all pretty confident he can bounce back tomorrow,” he added.

Earlier in Australia’s first innings, the 33-year-old contributed with a valuable knock of unbeaten 36 runs. The left-arm pacer also picked up two wickets out of the four that fell in England’s innings on Day 2. He bowled 15 overs and conceded 74 runs.
