Aakash Chopra, an Indian opener, analyzed Jofra Archer’s SA20 footage and felt that the Mumbai Indians would be happy with his performances.

Jofra Archer’s SA20 footage was examined by Chopra for the “Aakashvani” broadcast on JioCinema, and he concluded that the Mumbai Indians would be happy with his performances, going on to explain:

“Is Jofra Archer prepared? He played SA20, looked hot at times and cold at others, but took six wickets in an ODI against South Africa. He bowled yorkers and bouncers, and the ball was striking high on the bat, where the sticker is. So Jofra is already doing it. It simply melts my heart, and the Mumbai boys are overjoyed.”

In the five SA20 games Archer has played for MI Cape Town, he has taken eight wickets at a respectable economy rate of 7.57. In the very first game he played against the Paarl Royals, he recorded his best stats of 3/27.

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes the opposition batsmen may be concerned about the possibility of facing him in tandem with Jasprit Bumrah, noting that the Mumbai Indians had taken a risk in getting Jofra Archer.

“The Mumbai Indians franchise made a significant expenditure in acquiring Jofra Archer despite knowing he would not be available. I am certain that he will play this season. I’m hoping he stays fit until then, and if Bumrah is at one end and Jofra is at the other, I wouldn’t want to bat in such a match.”

In order for Bumrah to be fully fit for the IPL 2023, Rohit Sharma and the company will be hoping. Due to a back issue, the Gujarati seamer has been sidelined and was not selected for the Indian team for the first two Tests against Australia.
