The 26-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo has been ruled out of the remainder of the three-match ODI series against the England National Cricket Team.

England and South Africa are currently involved in a three-match ODI series, which commenced on July 19 in Durham. The second match of the series will be played on July 22 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester and the last match of the series will be played on July 24 at the Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

South Africa National Cricket Team had won the first match of the ODI series by 62 runs at the Riverside, Durham. Also, the first ODI of the series was the final ODI for the star England National Cricket Team all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has announced his ODI retirement.

Meanwhile, the teams are also set to play a three-match T20I series, which will be played from July 27 to July 31.

Andile Phehlukwayo will now commence his concussion return to play rehabilitation program – Dr Hashendra Ramjee

In an official statement released by Cricket South Africa (CSA), it was stated that Andile Phehlukwayo has been ruled out of the series due to a concussion he sustained following a collision with a teammate while fielding during the first ODI against England.

“Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo has been ruled out for the remainder of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against England due to the concussion he sustained following a collision with a team-mate while fielding, during the first ODI at The Riverside in Durham on Tuesday,” CSA said in an official media release.

South Africa’s team doctor, Dr Hashendra Ramjee, said that the all-rounder has shown signs of improvement. Proteas team doctor said:

“Following his concussion, Andile has been monitored closely and has shown signs of improvement. He will now commence his concussion return to play rehabilitation program.”
