England and Oman go head to head in match 28 of the T20 World Cupo in Antigua on June 14, Friday from 12.30 am IST. This is the very first T20I match to be played between the two sides.

England are in a lot of strife having not won a game yet in the tournament. Their first game against Scotland was a washout while their second against Australia they lost by 36 runs as they failed to chase 202. The defending champions are the only team in this World Cup so far to have conceded over 200 runs.

The defending champions now need to win their remaining two games against Oman and Namibia by big margins. Both the teams are eliminated from Group B. Australia, England, and Scotland are the three teams still alive.

However, Josh Hazlewood's comments in the post-match press conference after beating Namibia hint at something else. They are looking to eliminate England by losing to Scotland. On second thought they might also look to play a close game and thus keep Scoland's chances alive on the NRR.

England play almost two back-to-back games in Antigua on Friday and Saturday within 48 hours. They have their backs against the wall and it is only through big wins that they can hope to make it through to the next round.

They were well below par with the kind of attacking batting lineup they have to chase the 200-plus score. Australia got the better of the conditions and made the ball talk in the match. After a good stand of 71 by Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, the rest of the batters could not bat with the same intensity which cost them the game.

England vs Oman Head-to-Head Records: Key Statistics

As said earlier, this is the very first T20I between the two sides. England have won the T20 World Cup twice and in fact, are the defending champions of the tournament. Oman, on the other hand, is still very much new to World Cup cricket.

England vs Oman: Last 5 Encounters

This is the very first encounter between the two teams. England needs a big win to stay alive in the tournament and that is all they will be after in this match. Oman is already out of the tournament following their three consecutive losses.

The trend in this World Cup has been to bat first post totals and defend them. Most of the teams have been good at doing that as chasing has been difficult, especially in the dicy and the uneven pitches in the USA.

Batters have found it tough to come to terms with the pace and bounce of the tracks. The bowlers, on the other hand, have enjoyed their variations as well.

Conclusion

There have been a few upsets in this tournament already and if Oman manages to beat England and knock out them it will be another major upset in this World Cup. Group B already has Oman and Namibia eliminated.
